Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night
(dylan thomas)

Do not go gently into that good night.
Old age should burn and rage at the close of day.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

alone again, naturally

The tragedy of this world is that no one is happy, whether stuck in a time of pain or of joy. The tragedy of this world is that everyone is alone. For a life in the past cannot be shared in the present. Each person who gets stuck in time gets stuck alone.*

and I’m drawn to those ones that ain’t afraid*

A case of you
(joni mitchell)

Just before our love got lost you said,
"I am as constant as a northern star."
And I said, "Constantly in the darkness
Where's that at?
If you want me I'll be in the bar."
On the back of a cartoon coaster
In the blue TV screen light
I drew a map of Canada
Oh Canada
With your face sketched on it twice
Oh, you're in my blood like holy wine
You taste so bitter and so sweet
Oh I could drink a case of you, darling
And I would still be on my feet
Oh I would still be on my feet

Oh I am a lonely painter
I live in a box of paints
I'm frightened by the devil
And I'm drawn to those ones that ain't afraid
I remember that time you told me, you said,
"Love is touching souls"
Surely you touched mine
'Cause part of you pours out of me
In these lines from time to time
Oh, you're in my blood like holy wine
You taste so bitter and so sweet
Oh I could drink a case of you, darling
Still, I'd be on my feet
I would still be on my feet

I met a woman
She had a mouth like yours
She knew your life
She knew your devils and your deeds
And she said,
"Go to him, stay with him if you can
But be prepared to bleed"
Oh but you are in my blood
You're my holy wine
You're so bitter, bitter and so sweet
Oh, I could drink a case of you, darling
Still I'd be on my feet
I would still be on my feet

scarborough fair
(simon and garfunkle)

Are you going to Scarborough Fair?
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme.
Remember me to one who lives there.
She once was a true love of mine.

(On the side of a hill in the deep forest green.
Tracing of sparrow on snow-crested brown.
Blankets and bedclothes the child of the mountain
Sleeps unaware of the clarion call.)

Tell her to make me a cambric shirt.
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme.
Without no seams nor needle work,
Then she'll be a true love of mine.

(On the side of a hill a sprinkling of leaves.
Washes the grave with silvery tears.
A soldier cleans and polishes a gun.
Sleeps unaware of the clarion call.)

Tell her to find me an acre of land.
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme.
Between the salt water and the sea strand,
Then she'll be a true love of mine.

(War bellows blazing in scarlet battalions.
Generals order their soldiers to kill.
And to fight for a cause they've long ago forgotten.)

Tell her to reap it with a sickle of leather,
Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme,
And gather it all in a bunch of heather,
Then she'll be a true love of mine.

i got these awesome ( i hate this word) images through the ever reliable google while waiting for that elusive dreamland. i had the che painting for the primary photo of my friendster account. perhaps with an attractive che photo, the number of hits of my friendster profile will increase (it is still part of the self-aggrandizing project, ya know! in effect, blogging and friendster maintenance are self-aggrandizement activities).

i also acquired through kazaa lite a joan baez rendition of hasta siempre.initially i downloaded natalie cardone's version but it was like a disco mix of some sort of a supposed "praise song" for el che.

will these images on my page make me look cool?

last friday, i accompanied eight japanese students to the second international people's tribunal at the up film center. dang! i'm forever insecure with my english. it was really terrible discussing the condition of human rights abuses in the country to students from the first world with limited vocabulary and forever watchful for wrong prepositions. with only k-- as the sole english speaker in the group, there was indeed a wide cultural and political gap that i had to bridge. with my horrendous grammar, i tried to make them understand the much horrible state of my country.

i found out later that they can understand simple english but they can't speak it fluently. i went with them as they returned to the hostel where they are staying. i was amazed when hey invited me for dinner in some hell-hole carinderia and they were not at all pihikan with third world cuisines. even at times i cannot relate with them for obvious reasons, i had fun in the few moments they are trying/struggling to communicate with me.

chant for the day: international solidarity, long live! long live!

something in the air
(thunderclap newman)

Call out the instigators
Because there's something in the air
We've got to get together sooner or later
Because the revolution's here, and you know it's right
And you know that it's right
We have got to get it together
We have got to get it together now
Lock up the streets and houses
Because there's something in the air
We've got to get together sooner or later
Because the revolution's here, and you know it's right
And you know that it's right
We have got to get it together
We have got to get it together now
Hand out the arms and ammo
We're going to blast our way through here
We've got to get together sooner or later
Because the revolution's here, and you know it's right
And you know that it's right
We have got to get it together
We have got to get it together
Now

king of pain
(sting)

There’s a little black spot on the sun today
It’s the same old thing as yesterday
There’s a black hat caught in a high tree top
There’s a flag-pole rag and the wind won’t stop
I have stood here before inside the pouring rain
With the world turning circles running ’round my brain
I guess I’m always hoping that you’ll end this reign
But it’s my destiny to be the king of pain
There’s a little black spot on the sun today
That’s my soul up thereIt’s the same old thing as yesterday
That’s my soul up there
There’s a black hat caught in a high tree top
That’s my soul up there
There’s a flag-pole rag and the wind won’t stop
That’s my soul up thereI have stood here before inside the pouring rain
With the world turning circles running ’round my brain
I guess I’m always hoping that you’ll end this reign
But it’s my destiny to be the king of pain
There’s a fossil that’s trapped in a high cliff wall
That’s my soul up there
There’s a dead salmon frozen in a waterfall
That’s my soul up there
There’s a blue whale beached by a springtime’s ebb
That’s my soul up there
There’s a butterfly trapped in a spider’s web
That’s my soul up thereI have stood here before inside the pouring rain
With the world turning circles running ’round my brain
I guess I’m always hoping that you’ll end this reign
But it’s my destiny to be the king of pain
There’s a king on a throne with his eyes torn out
There’s a blind man looking for a shadow of doubt
There’s a rich man sleeping on a golden bed
There’s a skeleton choking on a crust of bread
King of pain
There’s a red fox torn by a huntsman’s pack
That’s my soul up there
There’s a black-winged gull with a broken back
That’s my soul up there
There’s a little black spot on the sun today
It’s the same old thing as yesterday
I have stood here before in the pouring rain
With the world turning circles running ’round my brain
I guess I always thought you could end this reign
But it’s my destiny to be the king of pain
King of pain
King of pain
King of pain
I’ll always be king of pain
